Paramount conquest is one of our favourite team building activities as it is a highly exciting board game that appeals to participants from all walks of life.
It is a real-time board game where a few minutes constitute to one game-day and participants are required to "travel" along a common map to the objective and return safely within 35 game-days, missing the deadline would mean a complete failure for the team regardless of their achievements during the game!
The briefing for the game takes about 20 minutes and teams will strategise for another 5 minutes or so before the game begins. Each team is given a limited amount of game money at the start and they will have to decide on a limited number of items that they will want to bring along on their journey.
At the end of each day, the teams will be required to choose a route of advance and decide if they want to seek shelter in the pavilions that are scattered around the map.
Depending on the route that they are on, each new day will require the teams to produce a certain items or one of their team members will "perish". When a team member "perishes" he is sent to the "life-giving station" where they will be given bonus tasks that will earn them some game money if they complete it within the stipulated time. They will return to the team after a few game-days.
While the "dead" players are in the process of getting resurrected, the other players will have to take over their duties, so that they team can continue to operate, and to avoid further losses.
The game will require teams to make a series of decisions, for example, whether they should stick on the route that they are on, whether they should seek shelter and when they should head back to the start point.
There are also other disasters that await them on the return trip, for some, meeting them may be the most agonising moment in this team strategy board game.
When the team meets with certain disasters, they are also required to complete certain actions together.
Learning Values:
Strategy, leadership, delegation, communication, attention to details, creativity and taking calculated risks are all elements that will help a team succeed in this team activity.
Valuable lessons on planning and supervision can also be shared through this team building game.
Required Logistics
We will require LCD projector and screen (minimum 1 set, if possible 2 sets will be better) to go through the rules and to show the daily requirements another screen can be used to show the map and the pawns of the different teams. This will add to the excitement of the game.
Banquet/ cluster seating with tables and chairs for up to 10 participants per team.
We will also need a few long tables at the side of the ballroom to serve as stall for "sale" of game logistics.
All other games logistics are provided by the anergy team
Special Note
This game can accommodate teams of 10 and maximum capacity can be a few hundreds provided enough lead time is given to us.
